Grants Pass teams play tonight in LL district tourney
The Grants Pass National team defeated Medford National Blue in a quarterfinal game at the District 8 Little League Tournament in Central Point yesterday.
Grants Pass National plays in a winner’s bracket semifinal game against Central Point at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Central Point Little League Fields at 2935 Hanley Road.
The Grants Pass American team plays Medford National Gray in another semifinal game tonight.
Nuggets host Corvallis tonight; Special Olympics holds South meet here today
The Grants Pass Nuggets play a single nine-inning game against Corvallis at Agnew-Lytle Field tonight, starting at 6 p.m.
Hundreds of special athletes will be gathering at Grants Pass High School today for the Special Olympics Southern Region Track meet.
Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 9:45 a.m., and events are scheduled to begin with the 3000 meter at 10:30.
Lady Cavers Garner More Statewide Honors
The Grants Pass High School Lady Caver Softball team, coming off its second state championship in three years swept the top three awards at the 6a level for all state softball honors.
Drury collects first pro hit, run
Grants Pass’s Brandon Drury, the 13th round draft pick of the Atlanta Braves, collected his first professional base hit in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast Braves’ 4-3 loss against the Detroit Tigers’ entry this morning.
Drury singled to right to lead off the second inning and advanced to second on an error. He then scored on a one-out single.
The hit came in Drury’s fifth professional at-bat after he went 0-for-4 in the Braves’ season-opening win against the Tigers yesterday.
