Cavemen Lose to Roseburg; five win at state wrestling meet
10 Cavemen scored but it wasn’t enough to stop the playoff bound Indians as Roseburg beat Grants Pass 67 to 49 at Heater-Newman Memorial Gymnasium Thursday night.

Senior Ronnie Fields again led the Cavemen in his final game in Caveman blue with 15 points that included three 3-point shots. Cameron Alexander was the second highest scoring Cavemen with 8 points.

Grants Pass finishes the season with a 3 and 12 conference record and 8 and 14 overall. Roseburg advances sporting a 9 and 6 record in the Southwest Conference and 18 and 7 overall.

The Grants Pass Lady Cavers ended their season with a 51-42 victory at Roseburg. Courtney Smith scored 14 of her team-high 16 points in the second half as Grants Pass came from behind.

Grants Pass stood in a tie for seventh through the first day of the State High School wrestling meet in Portland yesterday. Five Cavemen won matches during yesterday’s action.

In the Class 4A part of the meet, four wrestlers each from Illinois Valley and North Valley won matches, as did three from Hidden Valley. The meet continues through Saturday.
