Today marks the start of the spring high school sports season, and there are a number of local teams in competition today.

The Grants Pass Lady Cavers open their softball season on the road with a single game at McMinnville, while Cascade Christian is at North Valley for a single softball game.

In baseball, Cascade Christian is at North Valley, and Illinois Valley is at Gold Beach. Both of those are single games.

The Grants Pass Cavemen, who open their season on Wednesday against Crater, are at Crater’s baseball jamboree today, while Hidden Valley hosts Rogue River and Phoenix at its jamboree at Agnew-Lytle Field, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Golf season starts today, as well, as the Grants Pass boys are among the teams at today’s North Medford Invitational.
