Medford Water Commission Endeavors to Fence Out Algae Blooms
The Medford Water Commission employees are erecting nearly three miles of barbed wire fence around Willow Lake stretching from one edge of Willow Lake County Park to the other in an effort to stop free ranging cattle from entering the lake bed and wandering into the park’s campgrounds. It is hoped the fence will keep the cattle’s nitrogen-rich cowpies out of the lake and reduce blue-free algae blooms.

School District No. 7 votes on approval of administering medication to students

Water Construction to Disrupt Redwood Avenue Commute Monday & Tuesday
New water service will be installed at 1377 Redwood Avenue beginning Monday morning at 6 a.m. The specific location will be approximately 100 feet west of the intersection of Redwood Circle and Redwood Avenue.

Rogue Suction Dredge-Miners May Be Limited because of Mercury Levels
The recent discovery of elevated levels of mercury in the Rogue River’s pikeminnow could regulate suction-dredge miners off 216 miles of the Rogue River and other Oregon streams beginning next year.

Weekly City Happenings
Grants Pass City staff this week met with representatives from Cummins regarding the damage a city fire truck received when, after maintenance was performed, was left outside in freezing temperatures. The Cummins representative was sent from Seattle and according to City Manager Aaron Cubic’s report it was made clear the city was unwilling to accept anything less than full satisfaction. The representative indicated he would provide a written proposal.

A semi-truck and trailer struck several posts and took out a five feet section of guardrail on I-5 at milepost 72 northbound. The driver was cited for failure to maintain his lane.

Two Washington Men Jailed When I-5 Traffic Stop Yields 45lbs. of Pot
Two Washington residents are in the Jackson County Jail after a State Trooper discovered 45 pounds of marijuana and a quarter pound of hash during an I-5 traffic stop near Central Point last night.
