Commissioners to revisit economic development grant today
The Josephine County Commissioners will revisit a grant and loan they approved for a local mining assay business last week.

The Economic Development grant for Rock’n’ Earth Assay, which the board had approved on August 3, is on the commissioners’ agenda this morning.

OSP believes it knows who slain man at marijuana grow was
Oregon State Police officials believe they’ve identified the man shot and killed by Jackson County sheriff’s deputies while raiding an illegal marijuana grow site on Bureau of Land Management property Wednesday.

OSP Sergeant Jeff Proulx said investigators would be able to confirm the man’s identity by crosschecking fingerprints with those of known criminals in law enforcement databases.

Robinson will be at District 4 House debate, even if DeFazio isn't
At the very least, Dr. Arthur Robinson will be at the first of two debates he has announced he will attend between he and U.S. House District 4 incumbent Peter DeFazio tonight in Eugene.

Tonight’s debate is at the Valley River Inn in Eugene tomorrow at 6 p.m. The Valley River Inn is located at 1000 Valley River Way.

County to pay 26 former employees $151K
Josephine County will pay 26 former employees of its mental health services a total of $151,000 under “make-whole” provisions to satisfy The Oregon Court of Appeals’ judgment against the county in its case against the Associated of State, County and Municipal Em0loyees.

Washington attacker found on coast
A Washington state man wanted on rape and kidnapping charges in the Seattle area has been arrested on the Oregon coast just south of Florence.

Police said 51-year old John Alan Carter was spotted today
along U.S. Highway 101 by the police chief for the Confederated Tribes of the Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians.
