G.P. Councilors approve marijuana tax
The Grants Pass City Council during a special Monday meeting voted unanimously to tax marijuana.

Shortly after midnight Saturday morning a homeowner in the 600 block of Dutcher Creek Road called 911 to report a man trying to open their front door. Troopers arrived and took Tanner Lee Edward Lyons, 22 into custody. Troopers say he had a strong smell of alcohol and at the jail provided a blood alcohol content of .18 percent. It was determined Mr. Lyons drove off Dutcher Creek Road and into a large sink hole, completely submerging his 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. He was cited for DUII and Fail to maintain a lane of travel and taken home.

Police searched multiple known transient camps in downtown Grants Pass. Two transients were contacted during this sweep.

The Oregon Department of State Lands will hold a public meeting to present information, answer questions and take formal testimony regarding proposed new rules to change state maps designating essential salmon habitat Tuesday evening from 5 to 6:30 in the City Council Chambers at 101 Northwest “A” Street.
Man receives a punctured lung during a scuffle with police
A man who fought with police Saturday in a parking lot at 1100 Morrow Road in Medford received a punctured lung during a scuffle.
Grants Pass City Council Special Meeting and Monday Workshop
The Grants Pass City Council will convene a Special Meeting and conduct their Monday workshop from 11:45am to 1:00pm in Council Chambers at 101 NW A Street.

Victim Identified in Friday’s Fatal Crash near Wolf Creek
Oregon State Police continues its investigation into a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Tigard woman Friday afternoon off the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Wolf Creek. OSP and local emergency personnel were alerted and responded to the milepost 76 crash scene at 1:27pm.
