Gold Ray Dam Battle Moves to U.S. District Court
Supporters trying to save Gold Ray Dam get their day in U.S. District Court today. They will argue Jackson County violated their civil rights by working to remove the 106 year old dam without the necessary permits.

Its Now South Valley Bank & Trust
The signs still say Home Valley Bank but their customers today will be doing business with South Valley Bank and Trust of Klamath Falls.

The FDIC took control of Home Valley Bank Friday at the close of business and to protect depositors, entered into a purchase and assumption agreement with the Klamath Falls bank to assume all of the deposits of Home Valley Bank.

GP Nationals Shut Out in First Tournament Game
The Grants Pass Nationals, representing district 8 at the state Little League tournament for 11-12 year-olds, was shut out Saturday 10 to nothing by Cascade, out of Turner, Oregon. Cascade is one of the pre-tournament favorites.

Former Ashland Lawyer Gets Three Years in the Pen
A former Ashland lawyer has been sentenced to three years in prison in Rhode Island for embezzling money from clients.

William Craven pleaded no contest in January to a single count of felony embezzlement and three misdemeanor counts after he was charged with embezzling $400,000 from the estate of Maurice Longo.

Caregiver Faces Theft Charges
Tamra Jenise Fennel, 51, of Medford faces three counts of first-degree criminal mistreatment, first-degree aggravated theft and first-degree theft after Medford detectives sorted through the financial documents of John O’Conner and his wife Jane Wisenberg for more than a year.

I-5 Bust Nets 8,000 Oxycontin Pills
Early Friday morning Oregon State Troopers seized approximately 8,000 Oxycontin pills hidden inside a vehicle neat Ashland after Charles Edwards, 52, of Tacoma, Washington was stopped for speeding.

Troopers estimate the pills street value at $660,000.

Jackson County Fair
Loverboy is tonight’s headline at the Jackson County Fair

The fair runs from 11 to 11 through Saturday and closes Sunday at 6:00pm. Admission is $9 for adults, $6 for Children 7 to 12 and Seniors 62 and older.

Home Valley Bank Closed by the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services
Home Valley Bank was closed Friday evening at the end of the business day by the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services, which appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as receiver. To protect the depositors, the FDIC entered into a purchase and assumption agreement with South Valley Bank and Trust of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
