Midnight Dumpster Fire Damages Dental Office Saturday
Shortly after midnight Saturday, Grants Pass Fire/Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at Grants Pass Dental on NE Jackson Street. Citizens driving by spotted a burning dumpster against the building, called 911, and stopped to pull the dumpster away from the wall.

Busy Night for ODF Engine Crews
Just before 9:30 p.m. Friday, engine crews from ODF's Grants Pass and Medford units were dispatched to a series of grass fires, many of which were caused by fireworks. Most of the fires were extinguished at less than a tenth of an acre in size.

ODF Gearing Up for Fire Season; New Helicopter Arrived Friday
The Oregon Department of Forestry's Medford Unit welcomed a Type III helicopter onto its helipad Friday morning. It is on contract to the unit through fire season, and can be used to transport firefighters, haul and drop buckets of water onto fires, and fly reconnaissance missions
City of Ashland Approves Tax on Marijuana
The Ashland City Council has authorized a tax of up to 5 percent on medical marijuana and up to 10 percent on recreational pot while adopting regulations governing the location and operation of marijuana dispensaries.

The Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife Division in Central Point is seeking the public's assistance in locating the persons responsible for the illegal killing of a buck deer recently in the East Evans Creek or Sams Valley area off Antioch Road in Jackson County.
Jacksonville Borrows $1 Million for Courthouse Renovation
The city of Jacksonville will borrow $1 million to renovate the 1883 Jackson County Courthouse, turning it into a new city hall. The city council approved an ordinance last Tuesday authorizing the loan from Umpqua Bank with an interest rate of 3.04 percent.
Fireworks Regulations for City of Grants Pass
