Grants Pass City Update
The city of Grants Pass now has an easy and efficient way for utility users to drop off their utility payments. There is a new drop box in the parking lot between City Hall and the County Building. It is now ready for use.
ODOT to Study I-5 Viaduct in Medford; Re-Route or Rebuild
The Oregon Department of transportation is planning to invest as much as $4 million to study ways to beef up the I-5 viaduct through Medford or provide other options for routing traffic in case it fails in an earthquake or requires upgrades.
Walraven To be Freed
30-year-old Trevor Walraven will be released from prison in the next 45 days after Judge Timothy Gerking cut his 30-year-sentence in half Friday at the end of a two-day 2nd-look hearing in Josephine County Circuit Court.

The District Attorney’s Office in court today for the Second Look Hearing of Trevor Troy Walraven asked the court to determine whether or not the victim’s family and society would be safe from Walraven.
Cavemen Host Newberg in Home Opener
The Grants Pass Cavemen host the Newberg Tigers in their home opener football game tonight at seven at Mel Ingram Field. Both teams garnered come from behind victories in the first game of the season last week.
Firefighters Gain on Happy Camp; Some Smoke Expected
The firefighters battling the Happy Camp Complex of fires have gained on the difficult blaze, now listed as 45 percent contained. The fire grew only slightly Thursday, now having consumed 108,240 acres.
Grand Jury Clears Medford P.D. in Shooting Death of Marine Vet
A Jackson County Grand Jury ruled Thursday the Medford Police were justified in the killing of Stephen Andrew McMilon, a 52-year-old Marine Corps veteran, on August 24th.
ODOT completes construction in southbound lanes near exit
The Oregon Department of Transportation has completed bridge maintenance on I-5 near exit 43 and all southbound lanes are now open near Gold Hill.

Principal Explains Removal of Posters Commemorating 9/11/14
A moment of silence was observed at Grants Pass High School at the beginning of the School Day today in commemoration of September 11th, Patriots Day. This morning’s school announcement contained Principal Ryan Thompson saying, “Thirteen years ago today we remember the events of 9/11 and those 2,997 Americans who lost their lives. This day is set aside as a National Day of Service and Remembrance.”
