The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety along with Josephine County Search and Rescue and A.B.A.T.E. of Oregon are rolling out their emergency equipment at the Grants Pass Shopping Center for Safety Awareness Day Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Medford Drug and Gang Enforcement team, known as MADGE, is searching for two female suspects on charges of manufacturing, possession and distribution of methamphetamine and heroin.
County Parks to Host Rogue River Cleanup
The Josephine County Parks Department is hosting the 22nd annual Rogue River Cleanup Saturday. Volunteers clean the shoreline and along the road and help remove noxious weeds. Volunteers should sign up at 9 a.m. at Hog Creek.

Rural Metro to Conduct Controlled-Burn Training Exercise
Rural Metro will be conducting a Burn-to-Learn exercise Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 at 809 Coutant Lane. There will be multiple fire apparatus and personnel at the incident training in real life situations for house fires.

Central Point Fish & Wildlife Trooper Named Divisionís Trooper of the Year
State Police Senior Trooper Jim Collom, of the Central Point Area Command office, was recognized Wednesday when he received the Fish & Wildlife Division's 2013 "Trooper of the Year" award. The award presentation was made by Captain Jeff Samuels, director of the Fish & Wildlife Division, at the Cole Rivers Hatchery on the Rogue River in front of his supervisors, peers, and staff that he works with.
Voting Continues on High End of Normal Turnout
Ballots continue to be turned in at the high end of a normal turnout for a primary election, with 28.5 percent of registered voters getting their ballots to the County Clerk by the close of business Thursday.

Downward Departure from Measure 11 Crimes Frees Selma Man with Time Served
Tommy Edward Dodson, 66, of Grants Pass was sentenced to time served, 135 days, 5 years of probation supervision and forbidden to go anywhere near his victims or their property in the Forest Creek Road area.
