Car Thief Sentenced to 2 Years Hard Time
James Matthew Brockman, 37, was sentenced Thursday by Judge Baker to twenty-four months in the Oregon Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to three different counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Happy Camp Fires Claim Almost 6,000 Additional Acres Thursday
The brown afternoon skies on the southern horizon of the Rogue Valley are accurate indicators of fire behavior in that Happy Camp Complex in northern California. The smoke coloring the sky is proof that complex of fires grew to 82,956 acres, almost 6,000 acres more than Thursday’s report
Wanted man arrested by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshall’s Office Task Force arrested a California fugitive at the Comfort Inn in Medford at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday.
Red Flag warning issued for the Rogue Valley and Northern California
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning indicating the potential for extreme fire behavior for many areas of Southern Oregon and Northern California including the Rogue Valley, Illinois Valley, Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, the Cascades, Siskiyou Mountains and Siskiyou County.
Two Arrested for Car Theft and Robbery
Tuesday morning a Grants Pass Police Officer spotted a suspicious white, 2003 Toyota Corolla and followed it until it parked in the 700 block of Southeast 7th Street. Two men exited the Corolla and walked away but were detained by responding officers.
Easley Trial Continues with Opening Statements
Opening statements were delivered Wednesday by both the prosecution and defense in the felony murder trial of Donald Easley. Easley is accused shooting his neighbor, Laron Estes, 59, September 7th of last year.
18-Year-Old Driver Cited after Causing Collision with School Bus
Two people received minor injuries Wednesday afternoon in a collision involving two vehicles and a school bus stopped to unload youngsters on Highway 238 north of Jacksonville. None of the school bus occupants were injured and the at-fault driver was cited by Oregon State Police.
