Medford School Budget Passes
The Medford School Board passed their budget last night, including $3.9 million in cuts, but the budget failed by one vote initially.

Yesterday afternoon at about 3:15 p.m. three children, ages 6, 8 and 10 were playing outside their apartment in the 1500 block of southeast N Street when a male adult exposed himself.

Murder Suspect Says Kacy Hit Her Head on the Wall
Benjamin James George, 29, who faces multiple murder charges told police his girl friends pre-school aged daughter stopped breathing while they were roughhousing and he threw her onto a bed so hard she flew off and hit her head on the wall.

Gardening at jail begins tomorrow
Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilbertson is unveiling the new organic garden at the Josephine County Jail tomorrow.

The small garden, including eight 4-foot-by-20-foot raised vegetable beds, has recently been installed behind the jail facility.

The idea is to grow food for the jail as well as for local food banks, and help the Sheriff Department become more cost efficient.

Postal workers picket outside Jackson County post offices
Postal workers and supporters will picket outside the post offices in Medford, Central Point and Ashland on Thursday between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

What’s being called an informational picket, union members of the American Postal Workers Union and National Association of Letter Carriers are showing opposition to the U.S. Postal Service’s plans to eliminate Saturday mail delivery.

County signs MOU with Options for two employees
The Josephine County Commissioners signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Options of Southern Oregon to have Options hire two of three mental health employees that had been terminated this morning.

The employees will work for Options, through a contract with the county, as county employees.

Deer Attacks! Not Uncommon
Saturday an Ashland couple were injured while walking their dogs when a deer attacked the canines. The dogs were uninjured but the couple suffered bruises intervening.

Last weekend a dog sitting on a Cave Junction porch was attacked and killed by a doe.

Drug Convictions in Circuit Court
Monday in Circuit Court Christopher John Alexander,47, was sentenced to 26 months in prison plus three years probation and ordered to pay $1,342 in restitution.

Medford School Budget has Deep Cuts
The Medford School Board is scheduled to adopt a budget today without knowing exactly how they are going to cut $4 million from an operations budget of $99.3 million they approved the same day the Governor ordered 9 percent cuts at all state funded agencies, including schools.
