An Oregon State Police traffic stop Friday night on Interstate 5 north of Medford resulted in the discovery and seizure of 44 pounds of high-grade marijuana and the arrest of two Washington state residents.

Central Point House Fire Closes Hwy 99; Deputies Bust Pot Pickup
A structure fire reported at 10:03 p.m. Thursday night at 2489 Scenic Avenue in Central Point closed a section of Highway 99 for about an hour.

According to fire officials, the crews were unsure about water access in the area and laid hoses across the Highway to the railroad tracks closing the road temporarily. No train traffic was affected.

Mercury Levels Elevated in Rogue River
The Rogue and about a dozen other Oregon rivers are about to join the state’s list of mercury impaired waters. The Department of Environmental Quality has proposed adding the 216 miles of the Rogue, including the main stem upstream of Lost Creek Lake, as well as Emigrant Creek, on the list of water bodies with high levels of mercury in resident fish.

The first class is Tuesday, January 21st, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Smullen Center in Medford.
