Josephine County Employment Improved in September
Total payroll employment in Josephine County increased by 460 jobs in September. Local government education school year gains accounted for most of the rise. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate changed little. At 9.6 percent, the rate is just two tenths of point better than August and nine tenths better than one year ago.

OSP Weekend Incident Log
Shortly after midnight Saturday morning a homeowner in the 600 block of Dutcher Creek Road called 911 to report a man trying to open their front door. Troopers arrived and took Tanner Lee Edward Lyons, 22 into custody. Troopers say he had a strong smell of alcohol and at the jail provided a blood alcohol content of .18 percent. It was determined Mr. Lyons drove off Dutcher Creek Road and into a large sink hole, completely submerging his 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. He was cited for DUII and Fail to maintain a lane of travel and taken home.

Victim Identified in Friday’s Fatal Crash near Wolf Creek
Oregon State Police continues its investigation into a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Tigard woman Friday afternoon off the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Wolf Creek. OSP and local emergency personnel were alerted and responded to the milepost 76 crash scene at 1:27pm.
