Troopers Indicate Fatal Crash May Not Have Been a Hit & Run
The ongoing investigation by Oregon State Police into Wednesday afternoon's fatal traffic crash in southern Oregon along the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Wolf Creek indicates it may not have been a hit-and-run incident as originally reported.

Troopers Investigate I-5 Fatal as a Hit & Run
Oregon State Police is investigating Wednesday afternoon's fatal hit-and-run crash along the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Wolf Creek in southern Oregon that resulted in the death of a private contractor flagging crew member. Troopers are reporting the suspect vehicle was located about an hour after the crash at a nearby fueling station off the freeway.
Tractors, horses and lawnmowers arrive at the fair Thursday
The excitement at the Josephine County Fair continues Thursday with the main event in the grandstands, tractor parade, draft horses and lawnmower races, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Growth Potential for Douglas Fire Remains Extreme
Growth Potential for the Douglas Complex of fires remains extreme although the 2,692 fire fighters charged with battling the burn have contained 50 percent of the fires perimeter. Growth has been slowed by the recent rains but the fire did expand to 45,533 acres yesterday, some of which may be attributed to burn out operations.
Metal tank found in Medford confirmed to be a bomb
Medford Police have confirmed that a metal tank found in an alleyway on Hamilton Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Friday was a bomb that failed to detonate.
District 7 School Board Hears Inter-district Transfer Data & Air Quality Issues
Inter-district transfers incoming from other schools are showing a recent increase for District 7 schools according to a report given to the Grants Pass School Board Tuesday afternoon. The agenda attachment showed 94 accepted but by meeting time that number had grown to 106 accepted, with the majority of requests coming from Three Rivers and Rogue River School districts.
42 Lightning Fires All Successfully Contained
Firefighters have been busy since August 7 chasing smokes and putting out fires started by the series of lightning storms that have passed over the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. To date, all 42 new fire starts associated with the storms have been contained. Aircraft, engines and crews remain available to attack any additional starts should sleeper fires come to life over the next few days.
