Big Windy Fire 10 percent contained
The Big Windy Fire has reached 10 percent containment. The fire 25 miles northwest of Grants Pass has burned 14,085 acres. 1,233 firefighters, 49 engines and four helicopters are stationed at Big Windy. Burnout operations have been completed at the Black Bar Lodge and are continuing along Bear Camp Road. Crews are continuing to construct fire line along a major western ridge. The three fires that comprise the Big Windy Complex, the Big Windy, Calvert Peak and Jenny fires, have now merged.

The Oregon Department of Forestry has two crews in the process of extinguishing a fire caused by a Wednesday night lightning strike just up the hill from the Foots Creek Church and the Foots Creek Store.
Helicopter Traffic Increased Over the Contained Brimstone Fire Today
The increase in helicopter activity over the Brimstone Fire today is because this is the first reasonably clear day they've had to fly in days, and there is a stubborn hot spot in the northwest corner of the fire. The crews working on the Brimstone Fire haven't put out the hot spot because that part of the fire is too steep and too dangerous to work in. November Shooting Incident Nets 5 Years for Robin Smith
