No Power Equipment Use On ODF-Protected Land
Continued hot and dry conditions across southwest Oregon, coupled with a recent oubreak of large wildfires, makes it necessary for the Oregon Department of Forestry’s Southwest Oregon District to shut down power equipment use in forests and other wildland areas. Chain saws, brush cutters and all other power-driven, spark-emitting equipment are affected by increased fire prevention regulations starting at midnight tonight.
Help Wanted to Determine Wildfire Causes
A series of wildfires that have occurred recently in the Blackwell Hill and Gold Hill areas of Jackson County are clearly human caused and likely intentional. The Oregon Department of Forestry’s Southwest Oregon District is asking the public’s help in identifying the people responsible for starting these fires.
Medford P.D. Arrest 3 for Home Invasion Robbery
The Medford Police Department has arrested two 24-year-old men and a 16-year old girl in connection with an armed home invasion robbery in the early morning hours last Tuesday in the 600 block of Berrydale Avenue.

Sheriff’s Office warns of false evacuation notices-UPDATED
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office wants to warn the public about a group of individuals who have been seen going door-to-door issuing false evacuation notices to residences that are not in any danger of being evacuated.
Southern Oregon Fires Quiet Wednesday
The good news concerning the plethora of fires burning in Southern Oregon is Wednesday was a relatively quiet day, primarily because of the weather. The winds died and fires growth was minimal. There were no new evacuations or road closures.
Officials Gather for Fire Update
Representatives from the five major fires burning in the area held a press conference outside on the lawn of the Grants Pass Interagency office this afternoon.
Power Restored to Downtown Area
Pacific Power has restored the power in the downtown area. The electricity began flowing again at 3:25 this afternoon just under two hours after a pigeon caused to wires to cross at a transformer outside a substation.
Prospect Shooting Investigated
The Jackson County Sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the Monday shooting in Prospect that left the victim in stable condition.
Downtown Power Outage
Pacific Power reports a power outage downtown at 1:30 p.m. is affecting 330 customers. It has also affected the traffic lights on 6th Street between H and L Streets. Some are not working while others are flashing red.
