Police arrest doctor’s office burglar
Grants Pass Department of Public Safety officers arrested a burglar who had broken into a doctor’s office at 181 Bunnell Avenue at approximately 4:12 a.m. Sunday.
An alarm alerted officers to the scene and upon arrival they could see a suspect peering through a window. Officers brought a K9 unit to the scene and after several requests for the suspect to surrender the dog was sent into the building. Officers located the suspect in a locked bathroom, used a ram to force it open, deployed a pepperball and finally released the K9 who extricated the suspect from a closet in the restroom.
Police have identified the suspect as 21-year-old Michael S. Hartman, a transient. Hartman was treated at Three Rivers Medical Center for wounds sustained from the K9 apprehension and then was lodged in the Josephine County Jail on charges of burglary, theft, criminal mischief and probation violation.
