Small fire doused along I-5
A natural cover fire on the east side of I-5 near exit 80 started Saturday around 5:30 p.m.
The Douglas Forest Protective Association responded to the fire with four engines, two helicopters, and a fixed wing observation aircraft. The Oregon Department of Forestry, Glendale Fire Department, and Azalea Fire Department also responded to the fire.
Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the spread of the fire, which burned about 1/2 acre of grass and brush. Firefighters remained on scene improving containment lines and mopping up hot spots.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
