State Troopers are continuing to investigate this morning’s fatal crash near milepost 14 on Highway 199 involving a motorcycle and a commercial truck that claimed the life of the man driving the motorcycle.
According to Troopers, at about 8:00 a.m. this morning, a man driving a 2003 Harley Davidson was northbound when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the centerline and collided head on with a southbound 1992 Peterbilt truck pulling a semi-trailer.
The truck driver, Lee Conner, 59, from Springfield, could not avoid the motorcycle and stopped about 100 yards after impact. He was not injured.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name has yet to be released.
Troopers, assisted by Rural Metro Fire Department and ODOT, had the scene partially blocked for about 4 hours. The investigation is ongoing.
