Big Windy Burnouts Putting Up Smoke
Fire crews working on the Big Windy are burning out the west side of the fire today in order to reduce the risk of having a large flare-up later in month. Crews are targeting some large unburned areas inside the fire line that could be troublesome with some very warm days ahead.
Around 150 personnel are assigned to the Big Windy working on those burnouts, mopping up and rehabilitating burned areas. They have ten engines, seven bulldozers, four helicopters and three water tenders available for immediate use.
The fire has not grown in recent days and remains at 24,253 acres, still listed at 87 percent contained.
