Commissioners approve trucks for airport use
The Josephine County Commissioners during their Wednesday business session approved the purchase of two new trucks for the airport fleet.
The two Ford F-250 trucks will cost the county approximately $87,951 and will come equipped with a multitude of bonus features including winches and snow plows. Airport Manager Larry Graves says the two trucks currently being used are over 20 years old, require frequent maintenance and are incapable of performing the work they are needed for. He added that employees are sometimes required to use their personal vehicles to complete airport work.
Graves says he did an extensive search of used trucks locally and their prices could not compare to the reduction the airport is receiving on the fleet managerís discount and the new vehicles are cheaper than any used ones.
The approval of the trucks passed two to one with Commissioner Simon Hare being the dissenting vote. Hare stated he did not believe the purchase of the trucks was fiscally responsible.
