Lost Creek Lake algae bloom finally recedes
After 108 days the Oregon Health Authority has finally been able to lift a persistent algae advisory for Lost Creek Lake.
The warning was issued for the lake, that is located 30 miles northeast of Medford on the Rogue River, on Sept. 13. The toxins that are produced by the algae are poisonous to humans and animals.
Officials warn the public to beware of toxic algae blooms and to stay away from water that is scummy, foamy or has visible algae mats.
