Jackson County Couple Jailed in Clackamas on Warrants after Wrecking Stolen BMW
A Jackson County man is in the Clackamas County Jail after being arrested when he allegedly crashed a stolen 2005 BMW on Highway 212 at 11:20 New Year’s Eve.
An OSP Sergeant saw the car being driven aggressively but lost sight of it in the fog. He quickly found the car crashed into a power pole near Southeast 168th Avenue. He confirmed it was stolen and began a search for the driver.
Authorities found Kristopher Ian Simpson, 40, of Medford and Jamie Lea Desavedo, 32, of Ashland, muddy with cuts on their legs. They initially provided false names but their true identities were discovered along with the fact that both had warrants in Jackson County.
Simpson, alleged to be the driver, was jailed on the warrants and faces additional Clackamas charges including unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of heroin plus hit and run. His bail is $90,000.
Desavedo was lodged on a parole violation, but she is no longer listed in the jail.
