James Calvin Patterson, 28,is in the Jackson County Jail with bail set at over $3 million for charges of first degree kidnap, sodomy, rape, fourth degree assault and contempt of court.
Friday afternoon Medford Police officers investigating a reported assault in the 1200 block of Sunset Avenue spoke with a 30-year-old woman who had several injuries.
The investigation revealed Patterson and the woman were involved in an on/off domestic relationship and Patterson had a court ordered “no contact restraining order” against him.
Friday, Patterson allegedly became upset with the victim and began physically assaulting her, causing her to go unconscious. The victim was then locked inside Patterson’s garage. The woman used tools and broke out some wood planks covering a broken window and escaped to a neighbor’s house and called police.
The woman was treated and released at the Rogue Regional Medical Center.
