Commissioners accept participation in Brownfield Coalition
The Josephine County Commissioners during their general discussion Thursday approved their participation in the Brownfield Coalition.
The coalition will receive funding from the Environmental Protection Agency to survey brownfield properties, essentially properties that have been contaminated by pollution and will need to be cleaned to have new structures built on these lots.
Previously the Grants Pass City Council approved the formation of the coalition that will seek to clean properties throughout the county such as Josephine General Hospital, the Spaulding Industrial Park and various old mill sites.
Coalition partners include the county, both Grants Pass and Cave Junction and the Josephine County Solid Waste Agency.
