Transient arrested for reportedly striking a juvenile with a glass bottle
The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety responded to reports of a juvenile who had been struck with a glass bottle by a transient near the Grants Pass Visitor Center on 6th Street at approximately 6:05 p.m. Thursday.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Ryan LeWayne Briney, was located just minutes later after fleeing the scene and he was arrested on a charge of second-degree assault. The 17-year-old male victim received a one-and-a-half inch laceration above his left eye and he was transported to Three Rivers Medical Center for treatment.
At the jail, Briney allegedly assaulted a police officer and he is facing an additional charge of assault on a public safety officer.
