O’Brien Man Charged for DUII & Assault for Saturday’s Crash Injuring a 2-Year-Old
Jon Allen Firehammer, 40, of O’Brien, has been charged with 2nd and 3rd degree assault, both felonies, along with a misdemeanor charge of DUII and two counts of reckless endangerment after being suspected of being drunk when he lost control of his Dodge pickup and crashed into an oncoming Ford Mustang Saturday on North River Road outside of Gold Hill.

Kaylene Streight, the Mustang driver, was uninjured, but her 2-year-old son was taken to the Rogue Regional Medical Center with serious injuries and then airlifted to Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.

Firehammer remains in the Jackson County Jail with bail set at $250,000.
