A Grants Pass man and Medford woman are in the Jackson County Jail following a high speed pursuit Sunday that ended with two patrol cars suffering damage, a Lincoln Town Car driven by the suspects receiving significant damage and almost 40 grams of meth being confiscated.
Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a Gold Hill call alleging a man in a vehicle menaced another with a shotgun. A traffic stop was attempted at Old Stage Road and Scenic Avenue but the 1995 Lincoln Town Car fled at a high rate of speed.
Officers in pursuit attempted a PIT maneuver several times and eventually the driver, Ty Ray Nunes, 29, of Grants Pass lost control and a trooper car along with a Sheriff’s patrol car pinned the vehicle.
Nunes fled on foot and entered a home on 2nd Avenue in Central Point and locked himself inside. He eventually surrendered just before 8 p.m. He’s facing multiple charges including possession and delivery of methamphetamine. He also had numerous warrants for his arrest.
His passenger, Brandy Rose Johnson, 24, of Medford, was also jailed on possession of meth and several outstanding warrants.
The original call for menacing with a shotgun proved to be untrue.
