OSP Traffic Stop Friday Leads to Cocaine Seizure and Arrest
Shortly after 8:00pm Friday, an Oregon State Police trooper patrolling I-5 near Medford stopped a Toyota Tacoma pickup displaying California license plates for a traffic violation.
Probable cause established during the traffic stop prompted a call for the assistance of a Medford Police Department drug detection canine. Approximately 2.2 pounds of cocaine was discovered concealed inside the pickup with an estimated value of $40,000.
The driver of the pickup was identified as 42-year-old Jay Guadalupe Barragan from West Sacramento, California. He was arrested without incident and lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of Unlawful Possession, Delivery, and Manufacture of a Controlled Substance-Cocaine.
OSP Drug Enforcement Section is continuing the investigation.
