Driver strikes and kills pedestrian near Kerby on the Redwood Highway
An 83-year-old female driver struck and killed a 42-year-old male pedestrian on the Redwood Highway near Kerby at approximately 3:30 p.m. Friday.
According to the Oregon State Police, the female driver was traveling southbound near milepost 27 in a 2011 Hyundai passenger car when she traveled over the fog line for an unknown reason and struck the pedestrian on the southbound shoulder.
An emergency room doctor and two nurses were traveling through the area and provided medical care and CPR but they were unable to resuscitate the pedestrian and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Redwood Highway was closed for over three hours during the emergency response and investigation.
