City Council Faces 2 Action Items to Amend the Municipal Code at Wednesday Night Meeting
The Grants Pass City Council will consider two municipal code amendments at their Wednesday night meeting in Council Chambers at 101 Northwest A Street at 6:00 p.m.
First the current wording for code concerning effective date and declaring emergency provides that, in the absence of an emergency clause, new ordinances shall take effect 30 days from the date of adoption. Council rules also permit the reconsideration of an ordinance but if the council chooses to reconsider the status of the 30-day clock is uncertain. The new language says a motion to reconsider suspends the 30-day clock.
The second code amendment scheduled for action deals with language that was not included in the code regulating signs and banners in the “G” Street historic district.
