Ashland Council Likely to Lift Medical Pot Ban
Last night the Ashland City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance that would lift the moratorium banning the operation of medical marijuana dispensaries within the city limits.
The second reading of the ordinance is scheduled for August 5th, which means the moratorium could be lifted as soon as 30 days following that reading.
Councilors did not finalize a marijuana tax or the regulations governing dispensary operations because three council members were absent. Those issues have been moved to the August 5th agenda.
Councilors previously gave preliminary approval for a tax of up to 5% on medical marijuana and up to 10% on recreational pot.
