Gold miner locates human remains near Central Point
A gold miner called the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Saturday evening to report he had located human remains in the foothills near Central Point.

Due to the inaccessibility of the area, which could only be reached by foot, deputies waited till Sunday morning to search the area. They located a skeleton, positively identified as human remains, and transported it to the Deputy Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office is working on identifying the remains. If dental records are complete and there is enough evidence available deputies may know the exact identification of the remains with a few days. If the records are not complete however it may take several months to learn the remains identity due to the necessity for a DNA analysis.
