A complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Medford against Jackson County is alleging the wrongful death of Benjamin Michael Fager of Grants Pass who committed suicide while in custody in 2011.

The suit contends the Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies knew the decorated war veteran was suicidal but failed to adequately monitor or protect him.

The 33-year old was in custody after a November 2010 arrest on a single charge of first degree sex abuse.
