Rural Metro Fire Department responded to 2499 Allen Creek Road Sunday afternoon at 3:20 at the report of garage on fire.


The 700 square foot structure and a vehicle parked next to it were destroyed, but the residence and an additional out building within twenty feet of garage sustained no damage after crews from Rural Metro, assisted by Grants Pass Fire Rescue knocked down the fire after about twenty minutes.

The garage was owned by Janzter and Sons and was rented to a local family who were not home at the time of the fire.

Damage to the structure and its contents is estimated in $20,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
