Icy road contributes to death of teenage crash
A teenage woman died in a car accident at 8:15 a.m. in the 5900 block of North Foothills Road in Central Point.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Shelbi Stevens of Medford was traveling northbound when she lost control of her 1985 Volkswagen Jetta on a corner and crashed into a 2002 Toyota Camry driven by 27-year-old Ashley Villarreal of Eagle Point.
Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe Stevens lost control of her vehicle due to icy road conditions.
North Foothills Road was closed for a short time due to the accident.
