Commissioner’s Discuss Law Enforcement Taxing District
In matters from Commissioner’s at the Wednesday Business Session Cherryl Walker responded to citizens comments about the proposed law enforcement taxing district saying it was a citizens generated proposal that deserved to go forward but pointed out it is not finalized and citizens should continue to comment on the options available by and during the February 7th hearing on the district.
Commissioner Hare, repeated his opposition to the taxing district expecting it not to pass and advocating a five year levy for around $1.50 per thousand to create a short term solution while still searching for a long term solution that may come from litigation that could force a sustainable forest harvest.
The Commissioners also approved an annexation to the Illinois Valley Fire District, the funding for ODOT Public Transit Division, and a resolution requesting the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department renew the lease with B.L.M. for the Illinois River Forks State Park for a minimum of 20 years.
