Police catch multiple eluder using tactical maneuver
Oregon State Police managed to catch a suspect who has eluded authorities multiple times by using a tactical vehicle maneuver.
Troopers spotted the suspect vehicle, a 1998 white Chevrolet Tahoe that had been involved in previous chases, at the intersection of W. Stewart and E. Riverside Avenue in Medford at 1:23 a.m. Thursday and they began pursuit.
The vehicle eluded authorities by speeding through stop signs and red lights before finally traveling onto Highway 62. Troopers eventually managed to corner the vehicle in a parking lot near milepost two and using a tactical maneuver they forced the Tahoe to stop.
The driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Jeremy Ray Rasmussen, was arrested on charges of two counts each of felony elude, reckless driving and driving while suspended as well as reckless endangering and probation violation.
Investigators say they believe Rasmussen has been involved in several other chases with local law enforcement.
