1 Dead, 1 Critical in Highway 199 Crash-UPDATE
State Troopers are investigating Wednesday afternoon’s single vehicle fatal crash along Highway 199 about eight miles south of Cave Junction that resulted in the death of a 75-year-old man and critical injuries to a 65-year-old woman.
According to the Trooper’s press release at approximately 1:54 p.m. a 2005 Dodge Pickup driven by Floyd Dale Long of Crescent City, was southbound near milepost 37 when it failed to negotiate a curve. The pickup crossed the northbound land and crashed into a tree.
Long was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the female passenger, Sandra Crockett, was transported by Mercy Flights to Rogue Valley Medical Center where she is reported in critical condition.
Long was using safety restraints, but we have not confirmed whether Crockett was.
