Medford Casino Plan Reviewed by Feds
The Medford casino proposed by the Coquille Indian Tribe is under review by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

In September of last year the Coquilles purchased the Roxy Ann lanes Bowling Center and the former Kim’s Restaurant, plus agreed to lease the Bear Creek golf Course in hopes of opening a Medford Casino. The Tribe owns and operates the Mill Casino in North Bend.

The Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua tribe, owners of Seven Feathers has indicated they will take steps to block the proposal, first administratively, and possibly through the courts.

The city of Medford last week received a letter from the Department of Interior asking for comments on the proposal, and the projected impacts locally from removing the property from the tax rolls. According to the Medford assessor’s office, the property taxes on the lots totaled $18,304 last year.
