Eagle Pt. District to Pay Rickert’s Defense
The Eagle Point School Board yesterday decided to fund about $6,000 for Superintendent Cynda Rickert to fight a charge of misconduct from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission.

The commission alleges Rickert replaced licensed counselors at Eagle Point High School with unlicensed staff, a violation of Oregon Administrative Rules.

Rickert denies the charges saying the counseling services at the school’s Eagle Center have remained unchanged since she became superintendent in 2007.

Rickert filed an appeal and is waiting for a hearing to be scheduled with an administrative law judge.
