BIA Gives Governor 60 Day Extension to Weigh in On Medford Casino
Governor Kitzhaber has asked for more time for the state to weigh in on the application to build a casino in Medford and has received a 60 day extension from the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
The Governor wants to see a business plan and gauge the potential impacts the casino would have on the surrounding area.
The Coquille Indian Tribe, owner of the Mill Casino in North Bend, has proposed a casino in Medford and has purchased Roxy Ann Lanes and the former Kim’s Restaurant as the potential site and has asked the B.I.A. to place the property in a government trust, the first step to reservation status.
The deadline for comments was March 6th, but that has been extended to May 6th.
