The Grants Pass Fire Department responded to the parking lot of the Grants Pass Shopping Center Wednesday afternoon to the report of pickup on fire.


Fire inspector Brian Pike gave us the details, “We got a report of a pickup truck on fire and the crews arrived within a few minutes and found the engine compartment completely engulfed with fire. Got the hood open fairly quickly and got the fire knocked down. It appears the vehicle, a 1995 Ford pickup truck, is probably a total loss.”

There were no injuries and one adjacent vehicle did sustain some damage but was drivable. According to Pike early reports of an explosion likely came from the fire burning into one of the pickup’s tires causing it to explode.

No exact cause of the fire has been determined and remains under investigation.
