During our weekend conversation with County Commission Chair, Simon Hare on his recent Washington lobbying effort we asked if he had the opportunity to meet with Washington’s Congressman Doc Hasting on the progress of his house bill 4019.

The commissioner expects the bill to get a vote in the house and pass and be sent on to the senate. He is not sure the O & C Trust Conservation and Jobs Act will be part of it.

There was a new development from the Oregon delegation, “Something that was different as the whole congressional delegation we met with, including Blumenauer and Bonamici, is Bonamici, Congresswoman out of the northern Willamette Valley is actually receptive to signing on to the O & C Trust, Conservation and Jobs Act, probably that’s the 4th member from the Oregon Congressional Delegation and the third Democrat.”

That does indicate to the rest of Congress the bi-partisan support this concept is gaining.

The major question is can Senator Wyden get it through the Senate.
