Sheriff’s Office announces passing of retired corrections sergeant
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office has announced the passing of a retired corrections sergeant who served nearly 20 years with the office.

Jerry Young, who began serving with the Sheriff’s Office in 1982 as a reserve deputy, passed away in his sleep on March 10.

During Young’s career he earned multiple certifications, received the Corrections Deputy of the Year and Corrections Supervisor of the Year awards multiple times and served the Sheriff’s Office until health issues forced his retirement in 1998. Even after his retirement, Young continued to assist the Sheriff’s Office with hiring and promotional processes.

Young requested no service but a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
