Flames consume travel trailer in remote area
Flames consumed a fifth wheel travel trailer in a remote area near the intersection of Rockydale Road and Crest Drive in the Illinois Valley Tuesday just after midnight.

Illinois Valley Fire District Deputy Chief Jeff Gavlik says the main fire engine was unable to reach the fire due to the wooded terrain. It took eight firefighters and seven vehicles including a water tender and several engines approximately two hours to extinguish the blaze.

No injuries were reported but the travel trailer was a total loss.

Gavlik says the trailer’s owners saw a glow in the pipes above the trailer’s fireplace shortly before the fire broke out.
