Youngster Injured by Jackson County Fair Carnival Ride
A piece of metal flew off a carnival ride Thursday at the Jackson County Fair, injuring 9-year-old Brendan Hasse.
Brendan and a friend were in line for the Zipper when he was struck in the face with a metal object large enough to simultaneously hit his right eyebrow and put a deep cut on his cheek about an inch below his eye and also scraping his shoulder, then striking his friend with enough force to raise a welt on his back.
After being examined at the Expo’s medical gazebo, Brendan was taken to a local hospital for stitches.
Fair officials immediately closed the ride and are investigating the cause of the accident.
