Douglas Fire Approaches 90% Containment
The Douglas complex of fires is now 89 percent contained with more personnel being release. The 48,679 acre burn is now staffed with 544 personnel with more expected to be released as command is returned to the Douglas Forest Protection Association and the Oregon Department of Forestry Grants Pass unit. Total containment is estimated for September 1st.
The number of personnel assigned to the Big Windy has grown slightly with 1,246 firefighters now fighting the 24,125 acre fire that is now 37 percent contained. Full containment is projected for September 7th.
The Labrador Fire remains at 2,023 acres with air support being dispatched when the fire shows signs of expansion. 29 personnel are continuing to monitor the fire situation in the Oak Flat area.
No containment lines have been established because of this fire’s remote location. The growth potential for this fire remains high.
