Fire Crews Gain on Local Fires
The Douglas complex of fires is now 90 percent contained and the command has been turned over to the Douglas Forest Protective Association. 605 firefighters remain assigned to the fire that has consumed 48,679 acres so far.
Crews will continue the construction of containment lines with engines patrolling the perimeter at night.
40 percent containment has been achieved on the Big Windy fires with 1,065 firefighters still actively fighting the 24,125 acre burn. Construction of containment lines continues with full containment expected by September 7th.
The Labrador fire remains the big question with it still smoldering at 2,023 acres in inaccessible terrain. Air attacks are still being utilized when it appears the fire begins to spread. Growth potential for this fire remains high.
